Mosquito Repellents
There are various mosquito repellents that will help keep mosquitos away. Some are commercial products
with chemicals, and other are natural. Mosquito and insect repellents cover up the scent that humans naturally
emit, effectively cloaking your presence from the mosquitoes.
DEET Repellents
The most common ingredient in mosquito repellents is DEET. DEET is a chemical that blocks insects ability
to detect the carbon dioxide we exhale. Because the mosquitoes cannot detect the carbon dioxide, they usually
can't detect us. DEET is not recommended for usage with young children, although it has been shown to be relatively
safe with adults when used as directed.
Ultrasound Repellents
There are ultrasound devices for sale that produce high frequency sounds meant to scare off mosquitoes. These products
have been proven ineffective. Save your money!
